Meet Stephen

Stephen McColl is a Qualified Driver of Professional Competence

Stephen is a local man, born and bred in the Highlands where he has always lived. Having worked in the transportation and tourist industries for over sixteen years he has built up an impressive professional portfolio; but his high standards never stand in the way of the great rapport he builds with his clients as a tour guide.

Having passed his professional driving test first time he was offered a coach tour immediately. From then on Stephen was able to gain a vast knowledge of the UK and Europe through the regular experience of taking people on tours and holidays over the years. Highland Majestic Tours is Stephen’s second tour business, his first having been passed on to a fellow operator.

Stephen is passionate about his homeland and enjoys nothing more than sharing local stories and folklore, as well as making sure that you have a special and most memorable trip. His interests include local wildlife, castles, transportation and the history of the Highlands and Islands.

Stephen is keen to welcome you to Scotland and show your around the beautiful and unique landscapes of the Highlands and Islands.

What our previous clients have said about Stephen on Tripadvisor

A Great Day in The Highlands
Did a full day tour of the highlands with Stephen as our guide. He was personable, he knew the territory, he knew the history, and he knew exactly what to see. It was a day of extraordinary vistas in the heart of the highlands. We spent 10 days in the country, but Stephen’s tour was the highlight of our trip . . . he showed us the absolute best of the amazing Scottish Highlands. A truly great day.

Breathtaking Day Out
I love touring with locals because they are so knowledgeable and passionate about their home towns and Stephen was no exception. I had a truly memorable day out with him exploring places I may not have found on my own and being able to relax and enjoy the scenery spread out before me as a passenger rather than having to navigate and keep one eye on the road. I would recommend Stephen’s experience and professionalism to anyone – not to mention the amazingly beautiful part of the world in which he works.

Nice Guy, Top Tour
We took a tour with Stephen a week ago. First of all, Stephen is a great guy. He has a way of bringing you in the right mood while taking the tour. Another important thing is… he really takes the time, no rushing at all. We booked for a half day tour . . . he drove us around for some 7 hours!!!

The tour included Glenn Nevis (with a nice surprise included), Glenfinnan, Glencoe, and some other nice little spots. At the end of the tour he had another nice surprise for us. Great, thank you and hope to see you again Stephen!

Meet Ian

Ian Langley was formerly a Management Consultant and moved to Fort William from England a number of years ago to deliver a contract for the Scottish Government.

When this contract ended Ian attended the University of the Highlands and Islands for a full time 1 year course, training as a Tourist Guide. Ian, with pride, is now a qualified Scottish Tourist Guides Association (STGA) Green Badge Guide for The Northern Highlands & Islands of Scotland.

As a volunteer presenter on the local Fort William Nevis Radio Station, Ian hosts programmes every week. In his spare time he is also a volunteer welcomer on the pontoons in Fort William and Oban when cruise ship passengers and crew disembark in Fort William and Oban to visit Lochaber & Argyll.

Ian’s particular interests are all forms of transport, glaciation, geography, military history and of course the history of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Ian is eager to welcome you to Scotland and show you around our beautiful Highlands & Islands.

What our previous clients have said about Ian on Tripadvisor

Fantastic Tour with Ian
We recently had a tour with Ian Langley. Ian picked us up from the train station in Oban and made numerous stops at various castles and scenic vistas. He was extremely knowledgable of the surrounding area as well as provided many interesting historical stories of Scotland. He also took us through a beautiful valley back to the home in the Bond SkyFall movie. We ended the day being dropped off at the Ft William station for our train trip back to Edinburgh. Between the tour and two train rides, we were able to see a nice sampling of the Highlands.

We couldn’t have asked for a better guide as we drove through the Highland. We highly recommend Highland Tours to others in the future. We hope to get back one day.

Thanks again for a wonderful day, Ian!

Glencoe Tour
We had an amazing time with our tour guide, Ian Langley. We were able to see where the film Skyfall was shot, as well as the various nature around the area. Ian found many spots for us to take photos and he was very knowledgeable. He even went out of his way to take us to Inverlochy Castle as well as other sites in the area. The tour was outstanding and I’d most definitely recommend this tour for anyone looking to have an amazing day!

STGA Green Badge

Lovely Tour of Skye
My husband and I truly enjoyed our private tour of Skye with Ian at the end of July. The scenery was glorious and Ian is such a pleasant, knowledgable guide. His vast experience and professionalism are exceptional, one-of-a-kind, really. Next time we are in the Highlands, we are sure to book with this company for a tour and hope to work with Ian again!
